City Manager Mary Suhm just announced she was appointing First Assistant Chief David Brown to the top spot.
"Given [Brown's] educational background, experience, and proven track record with the City of Dallas and it's residents, [Brown will become chief] effective May 5, 2010," said Suhm's memo.

Forget crime fighting.
Forget crime fighting...his oath to uphold the Constitution is more important.
Fighting crime limits your freedom because you can call anything a crime and enforce it.
Upholding and enforcing a contract of liberty provides a better framework to live by.
New Chief
This is the best selection that Mary Suhm has made as Dallas City Manager, bar none! David Brown will take crime fighting to a new level in the city of Dallas. I have met him and I am impressed by his community relations skills and professionalism. David will be the best Police Chief that this city has ever seen! God bless you Chief Brown. You have earned it!
